Weather in Maine

Since David and I have been up, the skies have been mainly blue. When the sun is out, it can be pleasant and 80, almost hot. In the evenings and mornings, it gets chilly and mosquito-y, so bring jeans and long sleeves. Do bring a fleece or favorite cuddly sweater for if it gets chilly, and a wrap for the ladies. I always bring my slippers, just because they are fun to keep cozy in if it does rain. We'll think good thoughts!

Registry and Special China

Our Registries are with:
Crate and Barrel
Macy's
Restoration Hardware
Pottery Barn (when searching for the registry, use New York as the state of residence)
Williams Sonoma
Rosanna Inc (scroll down for items and how to order)
Mugi Pottery (scroll down for items and how to order)

Specialty Items
We couldn't resist including the special look at Rosannainc.com as "day china" and Mugi Pottery (local pottery studio) for unique art. At the time our website was developed, they did not have online registries, so we made a mini-registry here. To purchase a gift, call the store or go online to make your purchase. After you order through the store, email the Maid of Honor, Kimberly Hellmuth (Katie's sister) at katiedavidwedding@gmail.com to let her know so that she can mark it as "TAKEN!" from this list, or indicate how many are left of something. Gifts can be sent to Betsy's address. If you need the address of where to send email Kimberly at katiedavidwedding@gmail.com. Thanks!

Mugi Pottery
Mugi Pottery is a pottery studio for artists, and a spot to take classes. Katie took a pottery class there one summer and loved it. They have a Katie James Pixelated original website, and are a New York gem. Mugi just had gallery opening and is showing pottery by Victoria Bengolea. We love anything by Victoria and have a few pieces. If you tell Mugi Pottery your budget, they may be able to find something from this artist - cups, bowls, etc. Call them at 212.866.6202 to make arrangements. Check out MugiPottery.com.

House Downpayment Fund
We love our little apartment in New York, but with all of the animals (Dinah, Gerdy, Oliver) and bikes, we are over crowded! Plus, Katie would like an outside garden of some sort. So, we have started our house hunt and downpayment fund. Contact Kimberly if you want to help our down payment fund in lieu of a wedding gift off our normal registries. This gift will be equally loved and appreciated. You can email her at katiedavidwedding@gmail.com. Who knows, we might just end up in Columbus!

Thank you!
XOXO!

Hotels, Inns and House Retals

In the area of Maine that we are going, there are a lot of inns, bed and breakfasts and house rentals. You won't really find too many traditional hotels here. You will just find a lot of charm and hanging baskets. There are 2 other weddings in the area, so we are hoping you find something you love and snap it up!

We have visited or been recommended to each of these inns. Most of them serve breakfast in the morning. Here is some info to give you a better idea about their locations and other tid-bits.

HOUSE RENTALS FOR GROUPS
House rentals could be beautiful and cheaper if rented in groups.

www.cyberrentals.com. Houses tend to be rented from Saturday to Saturday. This site gives you direct access to the owners vs a realitor, so try negotiating a Monday to Monday (or Tuesday to Tuesday) deal, even if you aren't staying for that long. Or, try for a three day weekend. Most home owners need to know they will get the rent they need each week of the season. In many cases the rent for the week will often equal the rate of a B&B or Inn, if a cottage is shared and divided by more than one couple.

http://www.vrbo.com/28318. This has some great selections.

INNS AND LOCATIONS
20 minutes away (in Damariscotta)
These are the closest to shopping, activities and restaurants.
Flying Cloud: 207.563.2484 (5 rooms): Quaint. Not very baby friendly. Across the street from the Newcastle Inn.
The Harbor View Inn: 207.563.2900 (3 rooms): Very nice. Not baby friendly, as they have several collections of fine china. Next door to the Flying Cloud.
Tipsy Butler: 207.563.3394
Brannon Bunker Inn: 207.563.5941 They may offer child care, so inquire.
The Down Easter Inn: 207.563.5332 (several rooms) A tad closer to the wedding location, and several rooms. May be more child friendly and less expensive.
Cod Cove Inn (several rooms): 207.882.9586
Oak Gables B&B: 207-563-1476 Known to be beautifully kept and owned by a nice woman. Only down side is that it is more of a traditional B&B in that one room might share a bathroom with another room.

20 minutes away (in New Harbor)

Tibbets Farm
The Pemaquid Hotel: Beautiful.
Gosnold Arms Inn: On the water.

30-40 minutes away (in Wiscasset, "the prettiest little town in Maine,")
The Wiscasset Motor Lodge (several rooms): David and I love this place not only because it's inexpensive, but because you get your own little 1-room cabin. They look newly renovated, but actually it's been 10 years. Shh. Drawbacks: 1. there is a bridge that might clog traffic for 20 minutes." 2. It is on Route 1, so is on a main road. It's not loud, but just something to be aware of.

CAMPSITES
Seriously? If you want this, we know of 3 and they are available upon request. One in Wiscasset and one in Pemaquid. The starry night is beautiful in Maine. Hopefully it won't be foggy. And it shouldn't be bear season, we don't think. ;)

NOT RECOMMENDED

Pet Friendly Accommodations

If you would like to bring your dog, some cottages have a "pets with permission" policy. You can try these places at www.mainecottages.com: cabin numbers: #128, 129, 56, 4, 69, 42. You could also check with the Wiscassete Motor Lodge. Good luck!
